Introduction

Captain James Pinkham, my Great Grandfather, had been serving as Master of the “West Point” for a year before she foundered on 27th August 1910, about 60 miles east of Cape Race. This is the account of the life and career of Captain Pinkham, the ill-fated voyage and subsequent events. I am continuing the research into my family history and I am sure that more details of the Pinkham family will come to light and will lead to future editions of this note.
